Wyona Songer
Wyona Marguerite Songer was surrounded by family when she passed away Sept. 9, 2011 at 5:35 a.m.
She was born Sept. 14, 1928 in Stewart, Ohio. She was the daughter of Lewis L. and Mary Ellen Moore, who preceded her in death.
She married to Herbert L. Songer on May 15, 1948. He died on Feb. 3, 1994.
She is survived by 3 sons, Herb Arlene of Galion, Jim Carolyn of Galion, Bob Jan of Royalston, Mass. and 5 daughters, Charlene Keith Berry of Bucyrus, Marie Songer Dennis Ream of Galion, Cathy Mark Fike of Tiro, Lori Songer Tom Steinmetz of Bucyrus and Mendy Bill McNeely of Galion; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Songer of New Hampshire; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. Songer of New Hampshire; 3 grandsons, Jeremiah J. Fike, Michael C. Fike and Andrew L. Ream.
Wyona graduated from Rome-Canaan High School and attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she studied music. She was a member of the Bucyrus United Methodist Church and loved playing bingo, cards, yahtzee, fishing and watching birds and squirrels. She also served as a frequent soloist while a member of Stewart United Methodist Church during the late 1950's to 1967 when the family moved to Crawford County.
A memorial service will be held at Bucyrus United Methodist Church on Sunday, Sept. 11th at 3 p.m. with Rev. Don Kraps officiating.
A second memorial service will be held at the Stewart United Methodist Church, Stewart, Ohio on Wednesday, September 14th at 6 p.m. with Pastor Helen Kline officiating. Burial will be in the Carthage Cemetery, Guysville, Ohio.
The family requests that memorials be made in the form of donations to the Crawford County Humane Society, American Heart Association or First United Methodist Church.
