ATHENS- Ward “Jason” Kempton, 51, Chauncey, OH, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer. Jason was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 7, 1973. He was the son of the late Ward P and Wiladene Kempton (Kelzenberg).
Jason was a 1991 Graduate of Athens High School where he was on the Athens Bulldog football team. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and worked as a boiler operator on the USS Kittyhawk. Following his time in the Navy, Jason attended Hocking College and Ohio University and received an Associates Degree in Travel and Tourism. Jason loved to travel. He worked for many years in the service industry as a bartender and a waiter in Ohio and North Carolina. He was a waiter at Pizza Hut in Athens, Ohio for several years.
Jason had a jovial spirit and loved to make people laugh. He loved a good party, having fun and reminiscing about the good times gone by. He enjoyed watching football and spending time with family and friends. He spent a lot of time with his sister and her family and loved to sit around a bonfire with his brother in law Matt who he considered his best friend.
Jason is survived by a brother Randy Kempton (Roberta) a sister Sharon Davis (Matt), nieces Lauren Davis and Leah Davis and nephews Ryan Kempton and Ivan Reardon.
Besides his Parents, Jason was preceded in death by a sister Karla Kempton Reardon.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and nurses at OhioHealth hospice especially, Charles Kish for his unwavering kindness and compassion.
