Walter Leon Snodgrass
XENIA--Walter Leon Snodgrass, 78, of Xenia died October 31, 2015 at the Legacy Rehab Center in Xenia. Born March 4, 1937 in Guysville, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Scott and Charmion Snodgrass of Athens.
Leon was raised in Southeastern Ohio. He graduated from Carthage-Troy High School in 1955, where he was active in baseball, basketball, FFA & 4-H. He was a baptized member of the Orange Christian Church.
He enlisted in the Navy shortly after graduation and served in the Military from 1955-1959. After returning from the Navy, he resided in Columbus, OH, Atlanta, GA and lastly Xenia, OH.
He was a retired postal worker with 35 years of service. After receiving his pilots license in the 1970's, he continued his love of flying for many years. John Deere tractors, a good joke and OSU football were a few of his loves. He was a kind and loving man that had never met a stranger and he will be missed dearly. A private celebration of his life was held at his home in Xenia.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie and children, Michael Leon Snodgrass of Columbus and Nancy Kay Edmunds of Georgia. Three step children; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Massie and Keith of Coolville; a nephew Kevin Scott Massie and a niece Denise Lynn Massie of Virginia.
A memorial service will be held at the Orange Christian Church on November 14, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Craig Holler officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Carthage-Troy Alumni Association, 681 St. Rt. 7, Coolville, OH 45723.
