Little Hocking – Virginia A. Barber, 84, of Little Hocking, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family. Born August 9, 1940, in Marietta, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Clara (Styer) Gorrell. Virginia graduated from Marietta High School and enjoyed her early days growing up in the Marietta, Stanleyville, and Lynch areas.
She worked as a lab technician at St Joseph Hospital and Camden Clark Hospital. Her passions included many activities like race walking, hiking, and enjoying nature. The Smokey Mountains and Costa Rica were her favorite places to visit. She loved animals and especially cats. She was a very compassionate person to all the people she met. She was very active in gardening and a health enthusiast throughout her life – from raising plants in greenhouses, to outdoor gardening, to working and visiting local farmer’s markets.
She is survived by her children Keith Eye (Becky), Karen Rockhold (Keith), Ken Eye and Beidy Sow, and her grandchildren, Tony McPherson, Jr., Clint McPherson, Elisabeth Eye-Rohr, Timothy Eye, Akira Jakkson, and Aden Fisher, and her great grandchildren, Hunter Casey, Sophia McPherson and Rylee McPherson.
