Victor Bahr
Victor A. Bahr, 88, of Long Bottom, OH passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, OH.
He was born June 6, 1920 in Chester, OH son of the late Ernest W. and Bertha B. Betzing Bahr. He attended Alfred Church and formerly attended South Bethel E.U.B. and was a Forest Fire Warden for the Division of Forestry, a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II, and a member of the Chester Vol. Fire Dept., which he helped start. He was a life member of the Tuppers Plains VFW Post 9053 and the American Legion 128 in Middleport. He was also a school bus driver for Chester School, a coalminer, pilot, carpenter and farmer.
He is survived by 4 daughters, Lila and Don VanMeter, Linda and Gary Freeman, Kathy Stone and Jane and Rodney Baker; 6 grandchildren, Keith Bentz, Brenda Woodrow, Alvena Collins, Victor Coates, V.J. VanMeter and Amanda Dill; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Bahr; 3 sisters, Evelyn Well, Lila Winters and Mildred Lipsey; a brother-in-law, William Stivers; a special friend, Thelma Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Stivers Bahr; a daughter, Brenda Bahr; and 4 brothers, Kyle, Clayton, Norman and Vernon.
Services will be held 1 P.M., Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, OH with Pastor Jim Corbitt officiating. Burial will be in the Meigs County Memory Gardens, Pomeroy, OH, where graveside military services will be conducted by Tuppers Plains VFW.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
