Vernon Castle
GUYSVILLE—Vernon Castle, 71, of Guysville, OH, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018 at The Laurels of Athens.
He was born Feb. 13, 1947, in Parkersburg, WV, son of the late Vernon and Opal Williams Castle. Vernon was a deputy for the Athens County Sheriff’s Department for 28 years and served as the Athens County Sheriff for 8 years. He was also a member of the Elks of Athens, Trimble Masonic Lodge, the Aladdin Shrine Club and the NRA.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cindy Pikaart Castle; 8 children, Ed (Susanne), Jody, Julie, Jason, Veronica, Amanda, Becky and Ashley; a brother, Harold (Elma); a sister, Pat (Denny) Snedden; 12 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and special friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson and his brother, Cecil.
Private visitation and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to help with medical expenses.
The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to family and many friends for their help, love and support and also a special thank you to the staff at The Laurels of Athens.
