Timothy Edward Seyfang, 59, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, April 24th, at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by his adoring family. Tim was born May 14th, 1958 in Washington Court House to the late Harry and Marvene Seyfang. He was also welcomed by an older sister Nancy.
Tim was known for his comical personality and his ability to make everyone smile with his jokes. Every day was a good day to Tim. He graduated from Ohio University in 1985 and maintained his professional engineering license. He was a proud Bobcat alum. Tim worked for American Electric Power for 32 years and he enjoyed every minute of it. When he was not at work, you could find him sitting on the porch swing with his favorite (and only) wife, Debbie, of 27 years. Tim loved sampling his freshly brewed beer, visiting his daughters Emilie and Elaina in Tennessee and Florida, cruising around the Caribbean with his family, and spending time at the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland, where he traveled every year since he was a teenager. He was also a member of the Athens Rotary, a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and a member of The Plains United Methodist Church where he served on the board of trustees, and the Ohio University Russ College of Engineering Advisory Board.
Along with Jesus, he was greeted in Heaven by his mother and father, his paternal grandparents, Charles and Nora Seyfang, his maternal grandparents, Ed and Marie Anderson, his special uncle Marlin (Buddy) Anderson, his uncle and aunt, Marvin and Berneice Groat, special Aunt Imogene Anderson and his dear cousin Eileen.
Tim leaves behind a shocked and heartbroken family. Along with his wife Debbie, he said goodbye to his two daughters, Emilie (24) and Elaina (21). He is also missed by his sister, Nancy (Byron) Wisecup of Hillsboro, his Aunt Janice (John) Pinkerton, his cousin who was like a brother, Kent (Sally) Anderson of Chillicothe and their four children, his cousins, Rosie (Jerry) Shalf and Susie (Bud) Burwell, his nephews, Todd (Grace) and Brett (Karen) Cummings and their children. The favorite son-in-law is also mourned by his father and mother-in-law Robert Sr. and Barbara Cline of Marietta, Ohio as well as brothers-in-law Robert Cline Jr of Dublin and Ronnie (Ceinwen) of Vincent. He also leaves behind dear friends Doug and Traci Lawrence, Dave and Liz Hoisington, Carl Sabo, and Joe Zupi and many other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Tim’s honor to The Plains United Methodist Church to be put towards care packages for families in the Intensive Care Unit. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Tim’s life on Saturday, April 28th, from 4pm-7pm at The Plains United Methodist Church. The address to send donations, as well as the location of the celebration, is 3 North Plains Road, The Plains, Ohio 45780. The family asks that you bring pictures and stories of Tim to share.
Arrangements were entrusted to Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home where friends and family may sign the online guestbook at www.hughesmoquinfuneralhome.com.
