Thomas "Pee Wee" Werry

Middleport - Thomas "Pee Wee" Werry, 74, of Middleport, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
Born May 18, 1943 in Gallipolis, Ohio, he was the son of the late Henry and Eleanor Phillips Werry. Known by all as Pee Wee, he was a retired auto mechanics instructor at Meigs High School, a National Guard Vietnam veteran and a member of the Pomeroy Fire Department. Tom was deputized and served as a Meigs County Deputy Sheriff as well as a Pomeroy Police Officer and was a founding father of the Pomeroy Emergency Squad. Pee Wee was a 1962 graduate of Pomeroy High School, volunteered as a member of the Meigs Athletic Boosters, served on the Pomeroy City Council and was a supporter of the Heath United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Carsey Werry; one son Tommy (Dawn) Werry of Pomeroy ; two daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Wayland and Marianne (Tom) Proffitt both of Pomeroy; eight grandchildren, J.T., Jorden, Taylor, Morgan, Jamie, Trinity, Charice and Bryan; a special daughter Jewel and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Flip and Ralph.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Pomeroy with Rev. Rebecca Zurcher officiating. Burial will be in the Rocksprings Cemetery in Pomeroy where military services will be conducted. Visitation will be on Monday from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM where a tribute by the Pomeroy Fire Department will be conducted. Everyone is welcome to join the family for a meal and fellowship following the funeral service at the Ewing-Schwarzel Family Center.
