Susan Bobo

Susan Hume Bobo, 79, of Powell, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2025 with her children by her side. Susan was born on November 30, 1945 to Elsie and Robert D Hume in Oak Park, Illinois. She graduated from Maine West High School in Des Plaines, IL in the class of 1963 and went on to attend the Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. There she nurtured a love for reading that would carry on throughout her life. Later, Sue became a flight attendant for United Airlines, traveling and embracing adventure. On June 28, 1969 she married her beloved husband, R Gary Bobo. They moved to Detroit where Sue gave up her wings and worked in public relations for United. She was a devoted mother to her kids and the countless family animals, including dogs, cats and horses. She was actively involved in the PTA, sports and other school events.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Robert J and James E and grandson Tyler. Susan is survived by her adoring children, Robert G Bobo and Laura Bobo Kleon; step-children Scott Edwards and Lucinda Rhoads; cherished grandmother of Hanna, Christian, Anthony, Arianna, Vincent, Andrew, Matthew and Kristy as well as beloved great-grandmother to Alyson and Baylee . Sue was also the fond aunt of many nieces and nephews including Kimberley Hume Davis; and dear sister-in-law of Kathy Bobo Seymour. She stayed very close with her dearest friends, Ruth Wander and Barbara (BJ) Palm for over fifty years.

Faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and purpose. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, animals, knitting, reading, and spending time with loved ones. Her warmth, kindness, sense of humor and unwavering love will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Susan will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home in Athens. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M.- 1:00 P.M. A private burial will take place alongside her late husband, in Shade, Ohio on January 30, 2025. A Celebration of Life for Susan will be announced and held later this year.
