Sandy Brozak, 82, previously of the Stewart area and most recently of The Plains passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb 9 after a brief stay at Hickory Creek. Born May 3, 1940, in Dover, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ed and Irma Price. She had been married to the late Charles Brozak for 52 years.
Sandy worked for many years as a switchboard operator, first at the General Telephone Company and then at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, where she worked for over 25 years. Someone once referred to her as “the voice of O’Bleness,” which pleased her to no end. She took great pride in her work and loved her job and her co-workers very much.
Sandy is survived by children Alan (Julie) Brozak of McArthur, Terri McKinley (Jack Stauffer) of Athens, Andy Brozak of Marietta, and Dan Brozak of The Plains; grandchildren Matthew (Karlee) Brozak of McArthur, Kurt (Breanna) Brozak of Radcliff, Kentucky; and great-grandchildren Macon Brozak and Preslee Brozak.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Don Price. The family would like to thank OhioHealth Hospice for the remarkable care and compassion they showed to our mother. They were a tremendous help to our mother and the family. Thank you also to Hickory Creek for helping her to be comfortable in her last days.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sitting on her patio on nice days, and tending to her rock garden. She also had several friends too numerous to mention at her apartment complex.
Our mother always had pets and animals of all kinds throughout her life, from dogs to cats to miniature Billy goats to cattle. Knowing of her love of animals, the family is asking people consider a donation to the Friends of the Shelter Dogs in her name. Donations can be mailed to Friends of the Shelter Dogs, P.O. Box 576, Athens, Ohio 45701. The shelter was where she had found her fur baby Chloe, who provided countless hours of love and comfort to our mother.
