Shirley L. Kyle

November 25, 1936 — April 2, 2024

Shirley L. Kyle, 87 of Athens, passed away Tuesday evening, April 2, 2024 at her home. Born November 25, 1936 in Meigs County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Everett & Hazel Morris Meeks.

Shirley was a proud graduate of Shade High School class of 1954. She was an employee of F W Woolworth Co. and retired from Hocking Valley Bank after 37 years. She also kept books for Kyle Processing and the Burson cemetery for 35 years.

Shirley's husband was drafted in the Army in 1957. After returning home from Ulm, Germany with her husband in 1959, they purchased the late Faye Pierce Family Farm in Athens Co., Lodi Twp. After her husband's death in 2015 she continued to love and manage the farm.

Shirley enjoyed planning the Meeks reunion and group trips for family & friends through AAA for several years. She was an active member of the Athens Co. Senior Citizens. She enjoyed her family particularly her grandchildren and working in her flowers. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
 
She is survived by a daughter Shelley L. Kyle, of New Knoxville, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Mitchell T. Johnson and Lauren N. Johnson of New Knoxville, Ohio; a sister Helen L. Kyle, brother-in-law & sister-in-law, William & Maxine Kyle; and several nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 59 years, Ernest; two brothers, Clair Meeks and Paul Meeks; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Shaulis and Carolyn McGrath.

A funeral service will be 11AM on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Burson Cemetery. You may call upon the family at the funeral home on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 4PM - 7PM.
