ATHENS – Beloved mother of David , Shirley Lee Hartinger, 76, of Athens, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2018.
Born August 31, 1941 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Clara G. Hartinger.
She received her GED and attended Hocking College. She loved to listen to Dwight Icenhower and her friends Boyd and Blaine Cornwell. She loved watching Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and old shows like Columbo, Murder She Wrote and Matlock. She loved making necklaces, jewelry and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her loving son, David E. Hartinger and his pet cat; cousins, Donald Keith Douglas, Steve Douglas and Pam Douglas; her life long friend, Bonnie Gorby; special friends, Karen and Bruce Stone, Sharon K. Barkie Lynne Friihauf and Lillith W. Honchel.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara G. Hartinger; her grandpa and grandmother, E.S. and Bertha G. (Sutphen) Hartinger; an aunt, Martha M. Douglas; her famous cousin, General James V. Hartinger, Donald K. Douglas and Tim Douglas; her lifelong friend, Patty Zimmerman; grandma and grandpa Hall; and her special friend, Kay Green; and her former roommate, Greg Lee.
The family would like to thank her special friends that she made at Hickory Creek Nursing center. A celebration of life is being planned for her memory.
