Sandra Massar
EAST MEIGS--Sandra Carol Massar, 76, of East Meigs passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at her residence after a lingering battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born Dec. 14, 1940 in Grantsville, WV daughter of the late Dinsmore and Eleanor Sturm Boyles. Sandra was a member of the first class to graduate from Eastern High School in 1958. She was also the first Prom Queen in 1958. Sandra was a homemaker and a member of Alfred Methodist Church but attended Keno Church of Christ, where she played the piano for many years. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared and served many family members and friends over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sharon (Ginther) Boyles.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 58 years, Starling Massar; a daughter, Diana (Kevin) Buckley; a son, Charles W. Massar; a sister, Florence (Richard) Spencer; a brother, Phillip (Mary Lou) Boyles; granddaughters, Michelle (Kenny) Turley, Miranda (Randy) Moore; a grandson, Ben Buckley (Kristen Barton) and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family wants to sincerely thank previous caregivers, Pam Hull and Kenda A. Lawrence; current caregivers, Julia Combs, Holzer Extra Care and Holzer Hospice.
Due to Sandra's request, there will be no viewing or visitation.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH with Pastor Gene Goodwin officiating. A private burial will be in the Massar-Koenig Cemetery.
