Ruth Nicol
Ruth D. Powell Shields Nicol, 84, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, formerly of Newark, Ohio, passed away on March 30, 2013.
She was born on May 6, 1928 in Parkersburg, WV to the late George and Nancy Powell.
She was married to the late Walter E. Shields and is survived by five children, Nancy Westerfelt of Heath, OH, Judy Terry Dayton of South Port, NC, Albey Eugene Phillis Shields of Kings Mountain, NC, Ed Shields of Newark, OH and Marie Danny Ray of Mt. Juliet, TN. She had twelve grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandson; She had fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings, Norma Harry Sovel of Parma, OH, Robert Janet Powell of Vienna, WV and Gerri Bill Smith of Newark, OH; a sister, Virginia Woolard; two brothers, Norval Jiggs Powell and Ray Powell; and many nieces and nephews. She was married to the late Eugene Nick Nicol.
She was a member of Rocky Fork Church of Christ and the Fallsburg Homemakers. She lived in Ormond Beach, FL for several years where she had several friends.
She loved to play Bingo, Cards, Bowling and traveling to new places. She loved to tell stories and had a saying for just about everything. She loved her family more than anything.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., Thursday, April 4, 2013 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, OH with Mike Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Tuppers Plains Christian Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 11 A.M. until time of service.
A Memorial will also be held at Rocky Fork Church of Christ, Newark, OH on Friday evening at 6 P.M.
