Ronald A. Hennen, 88, of Coolville, Ohio died Friday, August 2nd surrounded by his loving family in the home that he himself built.
He was born April 3rd, 1936, in Palestine, West Virginia, the firstborn son of R. V. and Nina Pearl Hennen.
He was a 1954 graduate of Wirt County High School, served in the United States Army, and attended Ohio Valley College in the inaugural class of ministry students in 1959.
He was a Christian who committed himself to preaching when called upon for many area churches of Christ in Ohio and West Virginia during the 1960s and 1970s. He served the Success and Hickory Hills Church of Christ for over 50 years as both a preacher and an elder, well as teaching Bible classes, supporting mission work and conducting home Bible studies.
He retired from DuPont in 1998 after 39 years of service. He enjoyed working on his farm property, rebuilding antique tractors, woodworking, metal working and being with his wife and family.
He is survived by his loving and always-present wife of 65 years, Janet L. Hennen; a sister, Regena Harrod; three sons, Barry (Carla), Jeffrey (Mary), and Gregg (Cassie) Hennen; grandchildren April Hofmann (Lance), Shauna Barber (Mike), Joshua (Nicole), Anthony, Derek (Marian), Austin (Britney), and Mikayla Hennen; and great-grandchildren Brady, Garrett, and Corbin Hofmann, well as Madison and Abigail Hennen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Hennen, and infant great-grandson Elijah Hennen.
Visitation will be Tuesday August 6, from 6 pm to 8 pm at White Funeral Home in Coolville. The funeral service will be held at the Hickory Hills Church of Christ in Tuppers Plains, Ohio Wednesday August 7, at 1:00pm with Mike Moore officiating and Jeff Hennen conducting the graveside service at the Hennen family cemetery, including military honors. There will be additional visitation at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
