Roger Finnearty

ATHENS – Roger Finnearty, 74 of Athens, Ohio passed away at his home on May 31st, 2021. He was born on December 30^th, 1946 in Athens, Ohio to the parents of John F. and Effie L. (Bescoe) Finnearty.

Roger was a 1964 graduate of Logan High School, a United States Marine Corps sergeant and Vietnam War Veteran, and coal miner for the Southern Ohio Coal Company for 27 years.  Roger loved to golf.

Roger is survived by two children, a daughter, Heather C. (Leland) Thomas of Brookshire, TX, and son; Joshua L. of Athens, Ohio; a grandson; Cody Witham and great-grandchildren Taylyn and Colt Witham all of Marietta, Ohio; two brothers, John F. Finnearty II (Cynthia) of Athens and Bradley Finnearty of Lancaster, five nieces (Nikole, Brittnee, Desiree, Leslie Ann, Jessica) and a nephew (Jayson).

He was proceeded in death by his parents John and Effie Finnearty; and a grandson, Kyle Vincent Witham of Columbus, Ohio.
