Robert S. Mahorney
Robert S. Mahorney passed away at his home in Coolville, Ohio on April 21, 2013.
He was born on December 4, 1931 to Grace and Smith Mahorney in Lancaster, Ohio. He graduated from Pataskala High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Bon Homme Richard CV31 in the Korean War. He retired from Ohio University Police Department in May 1992. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 55, Athens, OH, The American Legion Post 0021, Athens, OH and a Life Member of the VFW Post 9053, Tuppers Plains, OH. He was Methodist by faith.
He is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Mary A. Mahorney; by their children, Gerald Gwen Mahorney of Folsom. LA, David Anita Mahorney, Guysville, OH, Bobbi Woodgerd and Mark Young, Glouster, OH; Grandchildren: Lisa, Jessica, Carri, Erin, Cory, Chloe, Eric and Erica; Great-grandchildren: Reagan, Cliffy, Jessie, Abby, Rhett, Jack and faithful dog, Lady.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace M. Wagner and Smith Mahorney, his still born brother, his sister, Betty Clifton and his step father Pete Wagner.
Per Bob's wishes for cremation there will be no calling hours or funeral. At the convenience of the family there will be private military graveside services. Burial will be at Athens Memory Gardens, Athens, Ohio.
