Robert Charles "Bob" Hartung

Robert Charles “Bob” Hartung, born in Portage County, Ohio in 1924 passed from this world on September 9th, 2022 in Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 98.

He was predeceased by his first wife, AnnaBelle; his parents Ed and Hazel Hartung; sister Lucille Linton; and three brothers, Ray from Twinsburg, Ohio and Harold and Leslie, both from Ravenna, Ohio. He is survived by his current wife of 34 years, Ann Hartung; brother, Earl Hartung of Ravenna; and sister-in-law, Ruth Hartung. 

Bob graduated from Rootstown High School in Ohio in 1942 and began shortly thereafter to work in the Ravenna Ordinance Plant, constructing munitions for the war effort. He quit to attend college at the Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where he majored in Education and Accounting, graduating in 1949. He began working at International Harvester as an accountant, but left this position to pursue his desire to teach. He began teaching at Johnson Park Junior High, but later transferred to Walnut Ridge High School where he taught business until retiring. 

Having remarried after the death of his first wife, Bob relocated to Florida where he became a resident in 1990. Bob enjoyed signing and was a member of the Glee Club at Ohio University as well as the church choir at Bexley Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio. He was 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Aladdin Temple Shriners in Columbus. He retired to Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida in 2004.

Private family services were held in Athens, Ohio on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Foster officiating.
