Robert "Alex" Palmer

ATHENS—Robert Alexander “Alex” Palmer, 35, of Athens, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his home. Born January 5, 1983, he was the son of Dorcas (Larry) Schreck and Ted Palmer.

Alex loved his family and friends fiercely, his furbabies tenderly and playfully. His passions were riding horses, climbing trees, and being outdoors. He was a good athlete excelling in football and baseball during his youth. He always made people laugh and relished a good debate. He took pride in singing karaoke with his father, siblings, and friends. He enjoyed music, dancing, comedy, acting and living life to the fullest. He was a devoted and caring son, a soul with the biggest heart, the most infectious laugh, and a smile that you could feel.  

Besides his parents, Alex is survived by his brother, Doug (Krystal) Palmer; sister, Judy (Jon) Wymer; nieces, Courtney (Cody) Bragg, Brittany Palmer, Elana Palmer, Julianna Manley, Layla Wymer; nephew, Shane Michael; sister Jacelynn; step-brother Lawrence Schreck II; step-sister Vanessa Schreck; half-sister Sulynn Brown; niece Ashley Brown; nephews; Justin Brown; Jake Brown.

Alex is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, twin sisters, and nephew Josh Brown.

A celebration of his life will take place at Jackie O’s BrewPub on Sunday, January 28th from 5:00pm-9:00pm. We will be gathering for a potluck style dinner as we share memories, sing together, and honor Alex. Cremation will take place with a memorial service to be announced on a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made out to the funeral home for funeral expenses. Or if you would like, we would be honored for you to give to a charity of your choice in Alex's name.
