Philip D. Moxley, 79, of Pomeroy passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 20, 2023 at Grant Hospital in Columbus.
Phil was the son of Harry Moxley and Helen Hamilton Yost. He was born in Newark, Ohio and graduated from Utica High School. He served in the US Navy and was a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Columbus.
Phil worked on the Gavin Power plant and fell in love with the Meigs County area. He met his wife there and continued living in the area until his death. He enjoyed raising cattle and later goats.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, sisters Louise Riley and Vickie Sanford; a niece, Caseyne Sanford and step-mother Neoma Boyd Moxley.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Hooper Moxley; his daughter Gail (Jim) Swatzel; his son Stephen (Angie) Moxley; four grandchildren, Brandon (Carrie) Moxley, Tresa (Joe) Binek; Lindsi (Donald) Ferguson and Jamie (Paul Morrison) Swatzel; four great-granddaughters, Skylar and Dakota Ferguson and Maryn and Layna Binek. Also a nephew, Vincent Riley and a niece Corinne Sanford and several great nieces and nephews. And his 6 beloved doggies.
At his request a private, family service is being held. In lieu of flowers anyone who wishes to honor his memory may send a donation to the Meigs County Canine Rescue and Adoption Center, 33133 Hiland Rd. Pomeroy, OH 45769.
