Montrose R. Goodfellow Athens - Montrose “Monty” Goodfellow, 82, of Athens, passed away on November 27th peacefully at home surrounded by family and his dog, Toby. He was born on November 6, 1942 in Stewart, Ohio. He was the son of the late Jim and Bertha Lucas Goodfellow. Monty retired from the City of Athens after 31 years of service. Prior to his time In Athens, he served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Athens Amvets, and a former member of the Athens Elks and Athens Boat and Ski Club. Monty loved to have a good time, a good laugh and a cold beer. He had a big heart and would help anyone in a time of need. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Melissa Rhonemus Goodfellow; three children, Carey (Rob) Welch, Troy (Jessica) Tausch, and Kimmie Goodfellow. Six grandchildren, Kaila (Steven) Hawk, Anthonie (Hayley) Tausch, Steven Tausch, Kristianna Tausch, Cody Tausch, and Dayna Goodfellow, and 16 great grandchildren who he loved so dearly. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death two brothers, Kenny and Jack Goodfellow. A celebration of life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at The Athens Amvets Post 76 on Campbell Street, with a ceremony from the Athens County Honor Guard.
