Michael Eugene Smith

Athens- Michael Eugene Smith, 60, passed away on September 3, 2018, after a brief struggle with cancer. He was an expert picture framer who was born and raised in Chicago, Il., and attended college at Illinois State University. He spent the last 18 years of his life in Athens, Ohio where he enjoyed working at New to You and the Athens Board of Elections. He is survived by one son, Patrick Julian Ousley (Brianna), two daughters, Susan Pelaez (Daniel) and Sarah Smith and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Charles Smith (Lisa), Richard Smith and Donald Gerron, Jr. (Wendy), sisters Donna Gerron and Anna Bobo (Larry), numerous loving nieces and nephews, good friend Graylen McClaren and long-time companion Linda Capehart. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Brewer Smith, his mother Anna Lee Thornsberry, and his sister, Valencia Reneé Smith. A service will be held in his honor at a later date.
