Melvin Garry McBride

ATHENS—Melvin Garry McBride, 82 of Athens, passed away peacefully March 9, 2018 after a brief illness.

Born March 30, 1935 in Luhrig, Ohio, he was the son of the late Earl and Sylvia Boyer McBride.

Serving in the US Air Force from 1954-1958, he later retired from 3M National Advertising after 30 years of service. Garry was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family and friends.  

Garry is survived by two brothers, Jack (Mary) McBride of Athens, Ohio, and Pat Patterson of Athens, Ohio; three sons, Mike (Jackie) McBride of Independence, VA, Gary Setser of Dayton, Ohio, Shaun (Shawna) McBride of Big Stone Gap, VA; two daughters, Stacie (Dan) Decaminada of The Plains, Ohio, and Kelly (Jeff) Crumley of Jonesville, VA; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and his best friend Alice Ratliff of Athens, Ohio.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary.
