Melvin C. Murphy, 96, of Reedsville, OH passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center, Pomeroy, OH.
He was born Nov. 12, 1912 in New Straitsville, OH son of the late George C. and Emma Schutz Murphy. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from Ohio Fuel and Columbia Gas.
He is survived by two sisters, Louise Keith of The Plains, OH and Judy Phillips of Pickerington, OH; a brother, David Murphy of Columbus, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Murphy; and three brothers, Marvin, Mavin and George Murphy.
Graveside services will be held 1 P.M., Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at Athens Memory Gardens, Athens, OH with Pastor Kathryn Riley officiating.
