Maurita Lee Miller
CHESTER--Maurita Lee Miller, 95, of 45080 Baum Addition Road, Chester, passed away at Overbrook Nursing Home on Thursday, January 16, 2014.
She was born March 2, 1918 daughter of the late Guy W. and Mable Hines Lee. Maurita was a graduate of Shade High School and Ohio University. She taught school, mostly in Meigs County for 33 years. She was a member of the Kappa Beta Sorority, Chester United Methodist Church, Pomeroy Chapter 186 Order of Eastern Star and Meigs County Retired Teachers. She was a former member of the Chester Garden Club, Grange, Chester Historical Society and Litter Control. She and her late husband, Roy were married July 9, 1944 at the home of the brides parents. She and Roy had many antique cars, took many trips and belonged to several antique clubs.
She is survived by nieces, Jill Ann Cox Wilson (Eric), Brook Foster (Tom), Blythe Gilgo (Rich), Bonnie Miller and Blair Miller; nephews, Garry Guy (Jeannie), David, John (Sarah), Jim (Susie) and their father Garry M. Eckard; special friends, John and Genna Riebel, James and Carolyn Buckley, Bob and Janet Kautz and Ray and Bobby Karr.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by their only child, Nancy Jean Miller Mays on July 21, 1993 at the age of 37; her sister, Winifred Jean Lee Eckard, parents-in-law, Clara and Walter Miller; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Donald) Cox; brother-in-law, Don (Diana) Miller; grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy, with Pastor Angel Crowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Burlingham Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, from 2:00 till 6:00 at which time there will be an Eastern Star service.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
