Mary Lou Milam, 82, of Coolville, Ohio, went to be with her Lord on August 25, 2013, quietly at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Buffalo, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Leroy Herchel Graves and the late Eva Yocum Graves in 1932. She relocated to Oakland, California when she was four years old during the Dust Bowl Era.
She attended Praire Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada and degreed in missionary studies at San Francisco Bible College, San Francisco, California.
She retired after 30+ years as a preschool teacher from Parkersburg Day Nursery, Parkersburg, West Virginia. In addition, she was active in child ministry throughout her life bringing God's word to children.
She enjoyed serving her church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and organized an afterschool bible study group for children at Coolville Elementary School through the Child Evangelism Fellowship organization. She also enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, reading her bible, gardening and helping others.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Henry R. Milam, Coolville, Ohio; six children, Faith Amich Ken of Columbia, SC, Rachel Connolly of Parkersburg, WV, Henry R. Milam Jr. Erin of Williamstown, WV, Mark Milam Francine of Gainsville, FL, Cathy Wooten George of Lithia, FL and Stan Milam Cindy of Archer, FL; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Forslund Mo of Moraga, CA and neices and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ted Graves of Oakland, CA.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 1 pm at White's Chapel Church in Coolville, Ohio, 52270 Rice Run Road, Coolville, Ohio.
Per her request, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship CEF, P.O. Box 2122, Parkersburg, WV 26102.
