HOCKINGPORT - Mary Orlena Thompson Folmer, 85, of Hockingport, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. She was born in Whitman, West Virginia on January 19, 1935 to the late Oral Theodore Bartoe, Sr. and Charlotte Stollings Bartoe. She married the love of her life, Charles W. (Chuck) Thompson in 1955 in Huntington, West Virginia. They settled in Columbus, Ohio, and had three children, Tim, Randy, and Kelly. Chuck had three children from a previous marriage - Roger, Larry and Judy - who Mary loved and raised as her own and who lovingly bestowed her with the lifelong nickname “Honey”. They owned and operated Thompson’s Radio and Television Sales & Service for 20 years. Chuck and Mary later moved to Meigs County and settled on a 57 acre farm in Long Bottom, Ohio, where they were living their dream when he passed away unexpectedly in 1975. Mary was later introduced to Max Folmer by Mrs. Wilma Parker. Mary and Max married in 1977 and together they raised three daughters – Kelly, Pam and Crystal. Following Max’s passing, Mary moved to Racine where she resided for several years. In 2015, she moved to Hockingport to spend her final years in the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and JD Rebecca.
Mary spent her life serving others. She worked for many years as a non-emergency medical transporter for the Meigs County Council on Aging. She was also a foster parent, treasurer of the Veterans Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, chapter leader of Flame Fellowship International and a member of Faith Full Gospel Church in Long Bottom, Ohio. Mary was an incredibly strong woman and prayer warrior who loved the Lord. Her family and church family were her joy. In addition to her treasured role of wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mary was also a gospel music singer, an unpublished songwriter and an avid journaler throughout most of her life.
She is survived by three daughters, Kelly Lea (JD) Rebecca, Crystal (Pat) Doon and Pamela (Bill) Belcher; two beloved step-sons, Charles Roger (Terri) Thompson and Larry Bruce Thompson; six grandchildren, Danielle Tarabiya, Timie (Jeremy) Elliott, Amanda (John) Kratz, Tyler Stage, Kylie Doon and Chelsea Doon; five step-grandchildren, Larry Michael (Heather) Thompson, Scott (Joyce) Thompson, Valerie (Jamie) Ivy, Michelle Cannon and Melanie (Scott) Creasap; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Orcutt; a step great-granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Totman; a brother, Oral T. Bartoe, Jr.; three sisters, Barbara Jean Leonard, Deana Mae Bartoe and Genevieve Bartoe (in infancy); two half-brothers, Robert Bartoe and Virgil Ray Bartoe; a half-sister, Janice Sue Bartoe; and a step-brother, Hassel Vickers.
