Mary Lee Poppe
Auburn – Mary L. Poppe, 92, of Auburn, Indiana, and formerly of New Knoxville, Ohio, died peacefully Sunday, March 27, 2016, at home.
She was born and raised in Glouster, Ohio. She was married to Roland Poppe, and he preceded her in death in 1996.
She is survived by daughters, Donna (Rick) DeBolt of Auburn and Linda (Don) Lucas of Fayette, Ohio; step-children, Sandra (Ed) Fortman of St. Mary’s, Ohio, Rick (Jan) Poppe of Celina, Ohio, and Deb (Mark) Ulenhake of Celina, Ohio; sisters, Maxine Linscott of Glouster, Ohio and Ruthann Caldwell of Columbus, Ohio and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.
Mary Lee was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Guinther.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Glouster United Methodist Church, 17 Cherry St., Glouster, Ohio 45732, with the Rev. Jessie Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery in Glouster, Ohio.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church.
Mary Lee’s favorite volunteer work was the literacy program and garden club. Following retirement she started a small business designing and creating hatpins and bead jewelry.
