Mary M. Frank

Athens - Mary M. Frank, 91, of Athens, died Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Lindley Inn in The Plains, Ohio.

Born January 24, 1934, in Wilkesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Lowe Garvin. Mary graduated with honors from Wilton High School in 1952. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended the Bates United Methodist Church. She was employed by Pure Oil and General Electric for many years. In 1986 she and her husband James F. Frank returned to the Athens area to live on their farm which they fondly referred to as Achin’ Acres. Mary enjoyed reading, completing jigsaw puzzles, going on long walks and spending time with her family and friends. 

She is survived by one sister, Anna Lewis and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James F. Frank in 2010; three brothers, John, Walter and Charles Garvin; four sisters, Sylvia Ambrose, Goldie Townsend, Neva Mossman and Helen Garvin. 

A celebration of life will be held at noon on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens with Debbie Brookins officiating. Burial will follow at the Radcliff Cemetery in Vinton County. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of services. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bates United Methodist Church, 4682 Pleasant Hill Road, Athens, OH 45701. The family would like to thank all those at Ohio Health Hospice and the Lindley Inn staff for all their care.
