Marilyn Gallaher
GUYSVILLE-- Marilyn Gallaher, 72, of Guysville, OH, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville, OH.
She was born Dec. 14, 1945 in Athens, OH, daughter of the late Rev. Guy and Mildred Louise (Howell) White. She was a member of Whites Chapel Wesleyan Church and her entire life was dedicated to teaching children and helping others. After graduating from Carthage-Troy High School and Ohio University, Marilyn began teaching in 1967 at Amesville Elementary for one year. She taught one year at Lottridge Elementary then taught for 33 years at Federal Hocking Schools, retiring after 35 years. Marilyn continued to substitute and volunteer for 14 years. She was a lifetime member of the Ohio Education Association and the National Education Association. She also was a member of the Athens Retired Teachers Association and served as President for two years.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 45 years, Coleman Gallaher; a daughter, Julia Gallaher; a sister, Janet (Jim) Evans and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David White.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Coolville United Methodist Church in Coolville, OH with Phil Ridenour and Rick Borne officiating. Burial will follow in the Coolville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Monday, from 2-8 P.M. at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH.
