Athens- Lois Eileen Porter, 95 of Athens, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 1, 2018 surrounded by family. Born April 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Flora Lula Feeney Nagle.
A 1940 graduate of Chauncey Dover High School, she would later retire from McBee’s Paper after many years of service. An active member of the Poston United Methodist Church, she loved reading, having lunch with friends, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (David) Hanning; two grandchildren, Lisa Welch, and David (Karrie) Hanning; five great grandchildren, Aimee (Richard) Randle, Heather Randle, Nathan, Noah, and Sarah Hanning; and three great-great grandchildren, Harper Rice, Lottie, and Roisin Randle-Stearne.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Frank Porter; brothers, Ernest and Max Nagle; sister, Thelma Lesha.
Arrangements are by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home where a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Athens Memory Gardens with her grandson, Pastor David Hanning officiating.
