Lindsey L. Lyons Jr.
Lindsey L. Lyons Jr., 90, of Tuppers Plains, OH passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 at Sunbridge Care Center in Parkersburg, WV. He was born March 30, 1917 in Middleport, OH son of the late Lyndall Parker and Lindsey L. Lyons Sr. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was awarded the Bronze Star, a member of the 71st Infantry Division, a Sargeant, a member of the Tuppers Plains V.F.W. Post 9053, the Middleport Masonic Lodge F&AM 363 where he was a 60 year member, a member of the Athens County Shrine Club, the Alladin Temple in Columbus and was very active in the fund raising for Shriners Childrens Hospital. He was also a member of the Board of Directors at Tuppers Plains-Chester Water Dept. where he was a leader in the efforts to establish the Tuppers Plains-Chester Water District and was the districts first general manager, a member of the First Baptist Church in Middleport and a self-employed business owner.
He is survived by a son, Lamar and Shirley Lyons of Tuppers Plains, OH; a daughter, Lyndall and Lawrence Hasbargen of Parkersburg, WV; a daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Lyons of Mineral Wells, WV; 8 grandchildren, Kent Hasbargen, Lamar Lyons II, Chris Lyons, Lynnette Gainer, Kira Allen, Leann Vaughn, Kim Adams and Lisa Dornick; 9 great-grandchildren, Bryce and Devyn Gainer, Hannah Allen, Logan Allen, Lauren Hasbargen, Kyle Adams, Kaitie Dornick, Makayla Vaughn and Renick Vaughn; a sister, Virginia Clifford; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Lyons; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Lyons; a son, Lindsey Lyons III; and a brother, John E. Lyons.
Services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, OH with Rev. Stan Golden officiating. Burial will be in the Sandhill Cemetery, Long Bottom, OH.
