ATHENS—Leonard Lee Lucas, 87 of Athens, died February 1, 2019 at his home. Born December 12, 1931, he was the son of the late Perry Allen and Lillie Belle Darnell Lucas.
Leonard was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and United States Coast Guard where he served during the WWII. He would later pursue a life of farming, being owner and operator of the largest dairy farm in the State of Ohio during the ’70s and ‘80s.
He is survived by his son, Leonard Lucas, Jr.; three daughters, Deborah Lucas, Kelly Alderman, Wanda Lowery; two sisters, Martha Williams and Sue Nichols; two brothers, Joe and Perry Lucas, Jr.; 9 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Allen Lucas; brothers, Ernest, Frank, Paul, Richard, Robert, and Emmitt Lucas; and sisters, Mary Lane, Norma Jean, and Phyllis Lucas.
Arrangements are by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home where cremation will take place. A gathering of friends will be on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 17696 Mush Run Road, Athens, OH from 1PM until the end of the day. The family kindly asks no flowers be sent.
