Lawrence "Larry" Driggs
Lawrence Leon "Larry" Driggs, 75, of Tuppers Plains, OH, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1943 in Stewart, OH, son of the late William and Luella (VanNess) Driggs. Larry attended Ames-Bern High School, where he starred in basketball and earned all-state honors in baseball. His baseball skills earned him the privilege of playing minor league baseball. He went on to graduate from Hocking College with a degree in business. Soon thereafter, he joined the US Air Force, where he traveled abroad and was a member of the US Air Force basketball team. Larry was a devout Christian and was very active in his community as a youth coach and umpire. He was a 25 year member of the Coolville VFW. Larry would say his greatest accomplishment was his family, beautiful wife of 52 years, 5 children and 12 grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Eyvonne Mae (Nelson) Driggs; 4 daughters, Sherry Ann (John) Selbee, Lisa Ranae (Mitchell) Barringer, Edna Mae (Matt) Hensley and Rebecca Jo Wheeler; a son, John Lawrence (Bridget) Driggs; 12 grandchildren; and a brother, Don (Bette) Driggs of Eugene, Oregon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ernest Dale Driggs and William Joseph Driggs and a sister, Evangeline Faye Montgomery.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Sunday, June 3, 2018 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH, with Pastor Rob Barber officiating. Entombment will follow in the Meigs County Memory Gardens, where military services will be conducted.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday, from 6-8 P.M.
