ATHENS - Larry W. Jageman, 79, of Athens died Tuesday morning, October 3, 2017 at his home. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with cancer. His entire life was dedicated to helping those in need. He was an active member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church, Good Works, the Boy Scouts, Montana de Luz (Honduras mission), Athens Disability Commission, and was a leader in many community activities. Larry's home was always open to former students, those in need, and family members. He leaves behind a vast circle of friends who cared dearly about him.
Born October 26, 1937 in Clinton, Missouri, he was the son of the late James Edward and Alta Merle Raef Jageman.
He received his bachelors degree from Central Missouri State in Warrensburg Missouri. Also, he earned a Masters Degree and PHD from the University of Northern Colorado. He joined Ohio University in the late 1960's as a professor in Special Education
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary; two sons, Brad (Rebecca) Jageman of Springboro, Broc Jageman of Athens; two siblings, Linda Clark of Baldwin, Kansas, and Jerry Jageman of San Diego, California, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Seigler.

Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Central Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Risler officiating. Entombment will be in Athens Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
