Kenneth D. Garrett
GUYSVILLE – Kenneth D. Garrett, 75, of Guysville, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Born April 10, 1940 in Guysville, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. and Delpha G. Dunfee Garrett.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was a 1958 graduate of Rome-Canaan High School and was formerly part owner and operator of York Construction. He was a Rome Township Trustee and a US Army Veteran.
He is survived by two children, Kellie (Rollie) Merriman of Albany, Brian (Connie) Garrett of Guysville; six grandchildren, Shannon Rogers, Lindsey (Cody) Endick, Evan Garrett (Karissa Connolly), Adrian Lynch, J.T. Merriman, Jerri Merriman; five great grandchildren, Jaylen and McKenna Rogers, Adian Dixon, Brystole Barnhart, Creed Lynch; and a sister, Frances Puckett of Albany.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, on November 5, 2013; his stepfather, Richard Williams; three sisters, Margie Lou Garrett, Dorothy Norman, Anita Klinglesmith; father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Hazel Cochran; two sisters-in-law, Patricia “Pat” Swart, Kay Russell; and a niece, Cindy Diedalis.
Services will be Saturday at noon at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home with Denny Bolin officiating. Burial will be in Frost Cemetery where Military Services will be conducted by the Athens American Legion Post 21, Athens VFW Post 3477 and the Albany VFW Post 9893.
