Karen Buchanan Smith Sharpe

Karen Buchanan Smith Sharpe of newstraitsville ohio passed unexpectedly at her home on November 17, 2022. She was born January 30, 1960 in Mullens, WV to the late Jack Buchanan and Florence Terry.

Karen was a stubborn woman who had the heart of a child. She was a fighter. She loved the simple things in life. A hot cup of coffee, crafting, crossword puzzles, coloring, Christmas lights, solitaire on her phone, and oh how she loved her cats, her friends and family.

Karen is survived by her two daughters, Heather Cooper of Chauncey, Brandy Cooper of Glouster; step-children, Eddie Craig Lisa, Jason Smith; her grandchildren Brianna Beitzel, Christina Wheeler, Florence, Isabella, Courtney Klein, David, Ashleigh, and Darren Willison; great-grandchildren, Austin, Quinton, Amiya, Jensen, and Loki; sisters, Sue, Sheila, and Pam; her closest living cousin, Donna Cozort; companions, Taz the cat and Heidi her dog; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a baby sister; her brother, Eddy Buchanan; nephew, Ernie Rollins; first husband Edward Smith; and her life partner, Homer Williams.

A memorial service will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 6PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Foster officiating. Visitation will also be Tuesday from 4PM-6PM. In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to assist with end-of-life expenses. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to all the hospitals, doctors, nurses, and home care agencies that helped keep her where she wanted to be. Thank you to all the EMS drivers that became more like friends. Thank you to the New Straitsville Fire Department for taking her hot coffee when the power was out. Thank you everybody.
