ATHENS – Juanita L. Rutter, 72, of Athens, died Monday, July 3, 2017 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital. Born February 26, 1945 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred Hixson Salyers. She was a graduate of Athens High School and was formerly employed with the Juvenile/Probate court system, working under Judge Harold J. Rose later retiring from O’Bleness Memorial Hospital after many years as a medical transcriptionist. She is survived by two daughters, Alecia (Jack) Moquin, Katrina (David) Heineking; four grandchildren Danielle (Andy McAngus) Andrews; Timothy (Breanna Russell) Moquin; Morgan Holdcroft; Katie Heineking; seven stepchildren, Mark (Colleen) Rutter, Sheri (Nathan) Stalder, Barry (Kim) Rutter, Andy (Tammy) Rutter, Danny Rutter, Clyde Rutter, Cindy (Bob) McFerren; six step grandchildren, Jacki (Scott) Wallace, Weston (Brittanie Bennett) Moquin, Eric Rutter, Wes McDonald, Gary Rutter, Caleb McFerren; two great grandchildren, Brylee and Bristol McAngus; three step great grandchildren, Brody Perry, Alexis and Tyler Rutter; a brother, John (Julie) Salyers; a sister, Julia Smith; and several nieces and nephews and her loyal K9 companion, Pixie. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry “Buck” Rutter on February 7, 2005; a sister Joy Boals on July 3, 2014; two step grandchildren, Gregory Perry and Bryce Rutter. Per her request, private burial services were held in McDougal Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
