Josephine George

Josephine George, age 86, passed away on January 20, 2012. She was born on June 12, 1925 in Calasetta in Sardinia, Italy. She moved to Tunisia at the age of five with her parents.
During World War II while surviving the invasion of North Africa she fell hopelessly in love with an American sailor, Lawrence K.George, and in 1947
immigrated to the United States to spend the next 58 years of her life with him along with raising five children.
She was preceded in death by her sister Lilly Ryu, her daughter, Lucy George-Bennett, her spouse Lawrence K.Geroge, Rachel George-Greenwalt a grandaughter, and a grandaughter, Leann Tate.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Antoinette & Michel Jovenceau of Louhans, France and
by a second sister, Lucie Mei of Nice, France. Her surviving children and their spouses include a son, Robert George of
Coolville, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary & Michael Jonas of
Guysville, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law Daniel & Deborah George of
Tiffin, Ohio; and her youngest son, John George of Warsaw, Indiana. She is also survived
by many grandchildren, great-grand children and numerous other family
members all whom she loved very much.
Services will be held at the White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, Ohio on Saturday January 28th at 1 PM. with Monsignor Kaya of St. Bernards Parish of Beverly, Ohio officiating.
The services will be preceded by showings on Friday January 27th from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.
Visitation on Saturday will begin at 9 AM. Mass for the deceased will be held at a later date.
