John Rose

John "Doc" Rose

John "Doc" Rose, 84, of Bashan, OH died Friday, June 4, 2010 at his residence.
He was born Aug. 22, 1925 son of the late John C. and Dora Bookman Rose. He married Mary K. Tuttle Rose on May 18, 1948. He was an Army Veteran of World War II European Theatre Heavy Artillery, a life member of VWF Post 9053 in Tuppers Plains, a member of the American Legion Post 128 in Middleport, a member of the V.A. Commission for Meigs County and a member of the Ohio Operating Engineers Union. He attended Carmel-Sutton Methodist Church and was a heavy equipment operator, a lifelong farmer and raised and showed Belgian horses.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Tuttle Rose; a son, Archie Debra Rose of Long Bottom; 2 daughters, Julie Curtis of Racine and Mandie Vulgamore of Waverly; grandchildren, Tyson Crystal Rose of Winston Salem, NC, Alison Rose of Nashville, Lacey Jason Sharp of Xenia and Rhiannon Vulgamore of Waverly; 3 great-grandchildren, Brayden Rose, Rylan Rose and Landyn Rose; a sister Bertha Dye of California; a brother, Arthur Agnes Rose of Little Hocking; a brother-in-law, Glenn Tuttle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, John Denver Curtis; a son-in-law, Larry Curtis; 2 sisters, Lucy Williams and Dorothy Williard; and 2 brothers, Chester Rose and Denver Rose.
Services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home with Rev. John Rozewicz and Rev. Dewayne Stutler officiating. Burial will be in the Meigs Memory Gardens, Pomeroy, OH.
Friends may call at the funeral home, Monday, from 6-8 P.M.
