Obituary of John Willis McMurray
On January 16, 2022, John Willis McMurray joined our Lord and Savior in heaven at his home in New Albany, Ohio. John was born on July 7, 1943, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He was the son and only child of Thelma Phillips McMurray and Willis McMurray of Pomeroy, Ohio. He was a graduate of the Pomeroy High School Class of 1961; he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from the Ohio University Russ College of Engineering and Technology and received a Master of Business Administration from the Kaiser Executive program. John enjoyed a long and successful career dedicated to Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation.In retirement, he was a devoted entrepreneur who traveled often, remained physically active, and was continuously involved in the community. Those that knew John, found him to have a dynamic personality and full of enthusiasm about life. A friend to all, his presence could not go unnoticed. He will be deeply missed. John is survived by his significant other Nancy “Jae theCop” Sonick, close family Dr. Harold and Lynn Brown, Nathan, Anne and Jeffrey, friend and confidant Clifford Young, several cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday January 22, 2022 at the Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will in the Beech Grove Cemetery in Pomeroy.
