John Smeeks
John B. Smeeks, 60, of 27911 Rock Run Road, Coolville, OH, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his family and caregivers.
He was born May 29, 1947 in Parkersburg, WV, son of the late William A. and Celia Sams Smeeks. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and member of the Parkersburg AmVets and the Parkersburg D.A.V. He retired from Walker System and attended Hockingport Christian Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Kara Smeeks and Kristin Smeeks Crump and her husband, Stephen; a son, Ryan Smeeks and his fiance, Mendy Boswell; a sister, Mary Jackson; three brothers, Leroy Smeeks, Gary Smeeks and Dave Smeeks; a special friend, Brenda Deem; best friends and caregivers, James Dougherty and Rhonda Smeeks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Smeeks.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2007 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, OH with Rev. Bill Duty and Rev. George Horner officiating. Burial will be in the Stewart Cemetery, Hockingport, OH where military graveside services will be conducted.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, from 4-8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday.
