Jerome “Jerry” Michael Rader

July 9, 1948 — August 10, 2018

Jerome "Jerry" Rader

COOLVILLE-- Jerome "Jerry" Michael Rader, 70, of Coolville, OH, passed away peacefully in the home he cherished with loved ones by his side on August 10, 2018. ALS stole so much from Jerry, but not his strength and courage.
Jerry was born in Parkersburg, WV, on July 9, 1948. His family moved to Coolville in 1952, where Jerry resided until his time on Earth was done. Jerry dearly loved his home and living on the property his parents moved to when he was four years old. After graduation from Carthage-Troy High School in 1967, Jerry served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Jerry retired from DuPont Washington Works after 31 years of service. He was also a member of The Goldwing Road Riders Association for several years. Jerry appreciated the simple things in life. He loved his family, his home, nearly anything to do with nature including 4-wheeler rides, bee keeping, mowing, hunting and bird watching. Jerry also loved riding his Goldwing, playing cards and watching Western movies. Jerry was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a charisma that ensured he never met a stranger.

Jerry is survived by the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Anne Rice Rader. They were married on October 3, 1970 in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Jerry brought his bride home to Ohio where they built a home and raised their two sons, Jerome "BJ" Michael Rader, Jr. (Kerri) and Travis Chad Rader (Amber), who made their homes close to their parents on the family property they love as much as their dad did.

Besides his wife and sons, Jerry is also survived by three siblings, James "Jim" Marshall Rader (Dorothy), Julianne Sue Potter and Joseph Martin Rader (Barbara) all of Coolville. Jerry is also survived by his two grandsons, Dakota Wesley James Rader and Jett Michael Rader. Jerry loved Dakota and Jett dearly and they feel the same about him. Also special to Jerry are three brothers-in-law, Richard Kennedy (Charlee), Dan Pavia (Kathy) and David Rice (Anette) and his mother-in-law, Mary D. Kennedy. Left behind are several nieces, nephews, cousins and one very special nephew, Christopher Michael Sheridan (Susan).

Loved ones welcoming Jerry to Heaven are his father, James "Jim" Rader, Jr. and his mother, Wanedia Maxine Rader.
