Obituary for Jim Rogers
James Elwood Rogers, 95, of Worthington Ohio, passed away at his home on March 13, 2018 with his family at his bedside. He was born February 20, 1923 in Coolville, Ohio to Alfred Rogers and Helen Carothers Rogers. Jim graduated Carthage Troy High School in Coolville, Ohio in 1940. He then started studies in Pre-Med at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Jim enlisted in the Naval Air Corp during WWII, where he was stationed in Hawaii. He returned to The Ohio State University and changed his major to Journalism. He married Carolyn Virginia Davis, who was working as a private nurse for Jim’s Dad, Alfred Rogers, March 15, 1947. Jim and Jinny raised 5 children. Jim eventually started his own printing business in 1967 which he operated for 47 years. Jim was also a member of the All Saints Lutheran Church, Worthington.
He is survived by daughters Caroline Reinier (Barry Gillenwater), Susan (Jim Cox), Sons Tom, John, and Tim, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Virginia.
Son in-law, James Cox will be conducting graveside services at 11 A.M., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Ireland Cemetery, Coolville, OH, where military graveside services will also be conducted by the combined color guard from the Middleport American Legion and Tuppers Plains VFW.
In lieu of flowers, friends are requested to make a donation to Bella Care Hospice, who have provided incredible loving support to the family.
