It is with deep anguish and heavy hearts that we regret to inform you that our James Lee Conn, suddenly passed away Thursday, Oct 12th at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital at 6:30P.M. Although he is gone away from this world, his Christ-like personhood left a beacon of light for all in his community.
James, fondly known as Jim, was born to Lester Harold Conn and Crystal G. Belbeck Conn, on January 18th, 1951 in Jackson, Michigan. Being raised on the farm, Jim was passionate about life and people. In his youth he was a talented athlete-- running track, part of the wrestling team, an avid skier, and football player. Was President of the ski club and an active member of 4-H. He graduated from Washtenaw Community College, worked for Chrysler, enlisted in the U.S. Army, and then later graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree from Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan. However, while working at Ohio University, with his favorite gang of cooks, his greatest sense of purpose was being a follower of Christ, a Husband, and a Father. Jim would always extend friendship and hospitality to whomever he met-a kind word, a gentle touch, or a simple tap from the car horn. Jim enjoyed the company of others, to make them laugh or listen to their concerns. With each opportunity he shared a life application of how to go about their day or to say, "Let's Pray." A void is now left with each person he's met, for Jim positively impacted our community, and he will be truly missed.
"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it."-Edith Wharton
