 REEDSVILLE—James Arnold Bernard, 81, of Reedsville, OH, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 26, 2024, surrounded by his family.

 He loved the outdoors—hunting, fishing and woodworking. After retiring from GTE, he was a self-employed contractor and handyman. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of the Vanderhoof Baptist Church, VFW Post #9053 in Tuppers Plains, OH and served as a trustee for Orange Township.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Nellie Bernard; an infant daughter; brother, Ralph Bernard and son-in-law, Shawn Wolfe.

 James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elnora Bernard; 2 daughters, Carrie Bernard and Kathy (Clayton) Lambert; 5 grandchildren, Madison Jenkins, Alex Jenkins, Kaycee Lambert, Carissa (Seth) Daniels, Caytlon (Ryan) Johnson; 2 great-grandchildren, June and Josie Johnson; brother, Dan (Ruth Carol) Bernard; sister, Ruth Stephenson; nephew, Mark (Kari) Bernard and a niece, Anita Smith.

 Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Sunday, Sept 29, 2024, at White Funeral Home in Coolville, OH, with John Hensler officiating. Burial will follow in the Coolville Cemetery.

 Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, one hour prior to the service.
