Iris Floreade Hartman

NEW MARSHFIELD - Iris Floreade (Katzenbach) Hartman, 99, of New Marshfield, passed from this life into God’s great kingdom on Monday, January 7, 2019.

Iris was born November 2, 1919 Meigs County to the late Jacob and Goldie (Hicks) Katzenbach.

The Katzenbach family later moved to New Marshfield where Iris graduated from Waterloo High School in 1937. She was a star athlete excelling in basketball and track. After she graduated, she married Leonard Hartman. She became President of the Parent and Teacher Association, a very valued former member of New Marshfield Chapter 346 Order of Eastern Star and current member of Albany Chapter 558 Order of Eastern Star. Later she went to work for Ohio University.

Iris was a devout member of the Athens Church of Christ where she participated in a group who made quilts which were then sold to help the church. She also made quilts for her family members she loved so much. Her gift of giving never stopped as she volunteered at the gift shop of O’Bleness Memorial Hospital. She loved to play cards, read, sew and spend time with her family.

Iris is survived by her son, Nile (Toni) Hartman; her daughter, Janis Hartman Dicken; her granddaughter, Maureen Dicken (Keith) Burk; two grandsons, Matthew (Audrey) Dicken, Brent (Lisa) Hartman; two great granddaughters, Lauren Dicken, Sienna Hartman; three great grandsons, Ryan Dicken, Gavin Burk, Jacob Hartman; and her brother, Max (Merle) Katzenbach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Hartman; and her sister, Delores Katzenbach Elliott.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home where funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11AM with Rev. H. Willard Love officiating. Burial will follow in Connett Cemetery. You may call upon the family at the funeral home on Friday from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM.
