Hester I. Sickels

ATHENS – Hester I. Sickels, 76, of Athens, died Friday evening, July 13, 2018 at Grant Medical Center.
Born September 10, 1941 in Downington, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Edith Hudnall Clark.
Hester was formerly co-owner of Sickels Burial Vault and Sanitation Company and was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by six children, Janet Sickels of Athens, Lora (George) Hayes of Athens, Judy (Chris) Burton of Albany, Jeff Cooper of Columbus, Dan (Sherry) Sickels of Athens, Chad (Jenn) Sickels of Roswell, Georgia; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Helcie Collette of Debary, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Sickels; a grandson, Jeremy Paul Hayes; siblings, Hazel Henderson, Hildred Gwinn, Harry, Howard, Homer, and Harold Clark.
Services will be Friday at 11:00 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Georganne Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Bates Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 PM.
