Herman R Carson, Jr
COOLVILLE--Herman R Carson, Jr., 83, went to his eternal home Feb. 16, 2012. He was born Feb. 11, 1929 at Bashan, Ohio, to the late Herman R and Inez Trussell Carson.
He graduated from Racine High School in 1946. He earned a degree in Dairy Science from the Ohio State University.
He was an Army veteran and served at Fort Lewis, WA and in Germany. He belonged to the Athens American Legion Post 21 and Athens AmVets Post 76.
A 60-year member and past master of Shade River Masonic Lodge #453, Chester, he was the oldest surviving past master of the Lodge. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Belpre Chapter #541, for over 50 years and a member of Athens York Rite Bodies and Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus.
Mr. Carson worked at Union Carbide Plastics for 33 years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Bradford Carson.
He is survived by his children, Marie Billy Gill, Washington, PA; Herman A. Kim Bail Carson, Athens; Herbert Claire Carson, Athens and Martha Carson, Guysville. Grandchildren, Rebecca Waylon Collins, Timothy Gill, Katie Jeremy Wise, Megan Kevin Bostian, Trisha Tyo and Michelle Tyo. Great-grandchildren, Carson Collins, Austin and Logan Wise, Ayla and Zoe Bostian. Brother, Alan Martha Carson and sisters, Ruth Ann Art Molnar and Joyce Jim Rice; sister-in-law, Ruth Bradford Frank; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitaition will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville. Masonic Services will be at 7p.m.
Pastor Okey Ahart and Chaplain Martha Carson will officiate at the funeral on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Sutton Church Cemetery, Racine.
