ATHENS—Helen M. Bridge, 85 of Athens, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Born February 21, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Paul F. and Margaret Pedigo Edgar.
She graduated from Athens High School in 1951 where she enjoyed playing the French horn in the marching band. Her love of marching bands continued throughout her lifetime. After high school she worked for several years at Athens National Bank before becoming a full time mother and homemaker. Helen enjoyed riding and showing horses in her youth and amassed numerous showmanship trophies. She also loved the Cincinnati Reds, being in her yard, and never met a stranger. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by her three loving children, David, Rhonda (Dave) Hughes, and Karen Lax all of Athens; sister-in-law, Juanita Dudley of Corbin, Kentucky; and many very special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; son-in-law, Don Lax; sister, Janice Bailey, and Janice’s son, Craig Copeland; and brothers and sisters-in-law who were very special to her.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Buford Brown officiating. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. The children would like to thank Donna Vermillion and the Close to Home and Heartland Healthcare caregivers who gave such kind, loving care to Helen. She will be missed very much.
